Asslamu Alaikum Wa Rahmathullahi Wa Barakaathuhu

It is my pleasure to extend warmest greetings and good wishes to all of you.

Taking over as the President of the Ceylon Moor Ladies Union in September 2025, it was a pledge made to fulfill the aspirations of the Union and serve the community with new initiatives within our mandate in the name of Allah. My first Challenge was the National calamity in November 2025 when a catastrophe hit several parts of the country with severe loss of lives and property and several were rendered homeless. Spontaneously, the CMLU was able to assist with no religious differences the victims in reachable areas who lost all their belongings. We were able to accomplish four flood relief projects with the immediate response from donors who shared this task with us. JazaakAllah khairan to all of you for your contributions and participation. May Almighty Allah reward you abundantly.

The details of all projects implemented by the CMLU and it’s progress is briefly accounted in the respective pages on the website. Our major ongoing project is the maintenance of the Home for Girls and managing it for the last 48 years. Alhamdulillah! with the cooperation and contributions of our members and generous donors over the years, we have been able to successfully manage the Home, which is under the scrutiny of the Department of Probation and Child Care Services. Currently, we are engrossed in a major task undertaken by the CMLU to provide a better environment and a Home for the children under our care, with basic facilities in accordance to the requirements of the Department of Probation and Child Care Services. The children do not have a playground in the existing Home and also some of the other basic facilities. This project for relocating the Home was launched 6 years ago, and we have been raising funds in numerous ways to accomplish it. The task ahead is enormous, but we firmly believe that with your generous support, it is achievable and can be accomplished In Sha Allah!

The CMLU recognizes the fact that, through our existence for over 90 years, we couldn’t have made a significant impact in society without the combined efforts of our benevolent supporters, Alhamdulillah!
