I am delighted to inform you that the Ceylon Moor Ladies Union is in the threshold of the 90th year of existence. Alhamdulillah! We pay tribute to the dream of the eleven illustrious mothers who were the architect of building the organisation to serve the vulnerable segments in the society for almost 90 years. The two major testaments are the Muslim Ladies College in Colombo - 4 and the Home for orphans and destitute girls in Colombo – 6.

Since 1936 the CMLU has a rich heritage of continuous support to the needs in the society to empower women and children. Our kind and passionate well wishers in Sri Lanka and overseas are the champions of all projects in the eyes of Almighty Allah. May Almighty Allah reward all of you abundantly.

As mentioned last year about the purchase of a property to relocate the Home with better facilities according to the requirements of the Department of Probation and Child Care Service, we would like to keep our generous members/donors updated that the proposed site had to be abandoned due to unavoidable circumstances. Alhamdulillah the department of Probation and Childcare intervened and advised the CMLU to explore a more conducive environment for the proposed new Home in a safer location

• Eventually the CMLU has decided to sell the property purchased with your generous donations
• We assure that this herculean task to sell and buy an appropriate property will soon be accomplished by the CMLU in the near future Insha Allah
• The CMLU is striving at its level best to accomplish this to provide better facilities for the girls growing up in the existing Home

CMLU follows the principle ‘In the best interest of every child’ as the Holy Quran imposes a duty of brotherhood and solidarity towards orphans and abandoned children as mentioned in the Islamic legal concept Kafala
